Chuck Smith: A Real Choice For Change In VA-03
For much of his almost 20-year congressional career, Democrat Bobby Scott has run unopposed in Virginia's 3rd District. This election cycle, however, Virginia residents have a strong candidate to contrast the ultra-liberal Scott, and the opportunity to bring about meaningful change to the political climate in VA-03. Chuck Smith, a former Marine Infantryman and retired U.S. Navy JAG Officer, has served his country honorably during his military career, and he now focuses that same sense of duty and honor on representing the people of Virginia.
Chuck Smith is a principled Conservative who will fight hard to cut government waste, restore fiscal responsibility in Washington, and remove the cumbersome tax burden off of the shoulders of the American people. His opponent, on the other hand, is a classic tax and spend liberal, and staunch Obama supporter, who wants to further a failing Federal government by supporting such resolutions as the ominous Affordable Health Care for America Act (AKA Obamacare). As a matter of fact, Bobby Scott has voted with the Democratic-led 11th Congress 98% of the time. And with healthcare costs on the rise, record unemployment rates looming, an ever-expanding public debt, and the threat of tax rate hikes on the horizon, Virginians can no longer afford to keep such status quo politicians as Bobby Scott in power.
The season for change is now. The time to act is now. We have two basic choices this election year. We can cast our vote for Liberty, or we can cast our vote for Tyranny. Vote Liberty on November 2nd! Vote Chuck Smith for Congress in 2010!

The French DevolutionProtests. Riots. Strikes. Supply shortages. Canceled Lady Gaga concerts. This could be a foreshadow of things to come in the US if we also continue down the path towards Socialism. Okay, so maybe the third omen isn't such a bad thing, but the point is, the US (unlike France) was built on the promise of opportunity, not the promise of results. And now we see throughout Europe, the product of generations of government dependency, and it's not a pretty sight. According to the Tax Policy Center, however, this Tax Day will be a worry-free Thursday for nearly 47 percent of US households. Because tax credits for low- and middle-income families have grown so much in recent years, a family of four making as much as $50,000 may owe no federal income tax for 2009. As a matter of fact, the bottom 40 percent of income earners will actually make a profit from the federal income tax! Yes, a substantial number of people will receive more money from the Federal government than they paid to the Federal government for tax year 2009 [queue Dire Straits' hit song "Money for Nothing"]. Earth Day 2010: Celebrating 40 Years Of Imminent DoomApril 22, 1970, biologist Barry Commoner wrote, "We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation." The "crisis" then was mass starvation, overpopulation, and, of course, global cooling. Today, environmental alarmists promise a similar fate to all man kind in the form of global warming (or is it still cooling?). And though the flaws of anthropogenic global warming science have been unveiled, AGW proselytes continue to exploit every opportunity to spread their mantra. And with the passage of Obamacare, nothing indeed could be more certain now than death and taxes for millions of Americans. 1. A new 10% excise tax on indoor tanning services on services provided after June 30, 2010. 2. The new law gives small firms tax credits as incentives to provide coverage, starting this tax year. Employers with 10 or fewer workers and average annual wages of less than $25,000 can receive a credit of up to 35% of their health premium costs each year through 2013. The credit is phased out for firms larger than that and disappears completely if a company has more than 25 employees or average annual wages of $50,000 or more. Beginning in 2014, small firms that sign up with one of the health exchanges to be created can receive a credit of up to 50% of their costs. 3. A requirement that businesses include the value of the health care benefits they provide to employees on W-2s, beginning with W-2s for 2011.
